Prayer on waking
O Lord, thou knowest how busy I must be this day:
if I forget thee, do not thou forget me:
for Christ’s sake Amen
(General Lord Astley)

To start your day
Lord God,
thank you for bringing me safely
to the beginning of this day.
keep me from falling into sin
or running into danger;
order me in all my doings,
and guide me to do always
what is right in your eyes,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
 Amen.

Grace before a meal
O Lord, grant that we may not be like porridge,
Stiff, stodgy and hard to stir,
But like cornflakes, crisp, fresh and ready to serve.

Prayer of Teresa of Avila
Let nothing disturb you,
Nothing affright you.
All things pass,
God is unchanging,
Patience obtains all,
Whoever has God,
Needs nothing else,
God alone suffices.

Prayer of St. Ignatius of Loyola
Teach us, good Lord, to serve thee as thou deservest,
To give and not to count the cost,
To fight and not to heed the wounds,
To toil and not to seek for rest,
To labour and not to ask for any reward,
Save that of knowing we do thy will.

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.

Modern version:
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name;
your kingdom come;
your will be done;
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those
who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power
and the glory are yours
now and for ever. Amen

To end your day
Lighten my darkness,
Lord, I pray;
and in your mercy defend me
from all perils and dangers of this night;
for the love of your only Son,
our Saviour Jesus Christ.
 Amen.
