| Introducing Junior Church [Top] |
From Helen Phethean, Junior Church leader
All parents with young families want to do what is best for their young children. Christian parents also wish their children to be nurtured in the faith.
When we do this we try to make sure that both spiritual and physical needs are met. At Christ the King Junior Church we aim to fulfill some of that Christian nurture of the young which as the Church we promised to do along with parents and godparents at the child’s Baptism.
In Junior Church, week by week, children take part in worship, activities, fun and faith teaching. All children from 4 to 11 years old are welcome.
At other times we take part in special services, have parties and an annual prize-giving service.
Junior Church runs alongside our main adult worship and we come together with the whole church family for the second part of the main Sunday service after about three quarters of an hour in the common room.
We hope that fun, shared faith and friendship all make coming to Junior Church at Christ the King a really enjoyable time for all our children.
If you would like any more information about Junior Church please get in touch with the vicar or with me – or why not pop in and see exactly what we get up to?
| Junior Church - a message from the Vicar [Top] |
At Christ the King church we are proud of our Junior Church, which, under Helen’s guidance, tries to guide children forward in their understanding of what it is to lead a Christian life. It is an enterprise which, I hope you will agree, has never been more important.
Our children are growing up in a fast - and often confusing and threatening - world. There are many influences on them outside the safety of their homes. As a parent you perhaps sometimes worry about what you can do to provide the right kind of influences on your child's growing life.| Butterflies [Top] |

Every month (except August) we have a service on the second Friday at 2pm for parents (and grandparents) and their toddler children. We concentrate on a theme, with a story and some songs, in church for about half an hour and then move to our Common Room to do some craft work and have a drink....And its all over by 3pm in case you have other children to collect from school.
If you want to know more, ask the Vicar.
