| The Revd Canon Roy Clements welcomes you to CTK on-line |

Welcome to the Church of England parish of Christ the King, Battyeford - on the Brighouse side of Mirfield, West Yorkshire.
We serve, within some rather quaintly drawn parish boundaries, just short of half the population of Mirfield, the rest are served by our neighbours at St Mary's Mirfield and St Pauls Easthorpe. If you live here (and even if you don't) we hope you feel you could ask us if you feel we could be useful to you.
We try - as you would expect of any church – to follow, preach and encourage that Godly path of life which was lived and described Jesus Christ. We believe in open, community-based approaches to being a church of the people, run by the people, in existence for the people.
We hope you could come to us whether or not you are convinced by everything you suppose Christians believe. Many people search for a faith with which to make sense of the life they live – and if that includes you, we hope you might come and join us on our journey. We hope you can consider this as much your church as it is our church
I know it’s never easy to walk
into a church [or any other community for that matter], so if you’re new to it
all and want help, please ask. You can email me to start with – and I may well
be able to find others who could help you dip your toe in our pool. If you have
some general enquiry to make and want to do it more anonymously, you may find
the bits and pieces I’ve put at our“"What
If?" pages useful.
If you happen to be well into church life already, there’s a
stack of other information on our other pages which may help you. But please
don’t bother with it all at once if you’re new. That way lies indigestion.
If you’re interested in real church life, your first browse here may have told
you something, but there’s no substitute for coming and seeing us – and if you’d
like to put us to the test, you need to find Stocksbank Road [off the Mirfield
to Huddersfield Road]. If you find a monastery called the Community of the
Resurrection on your left, keep going, you’ve nearly found us too. We’re just
round the corner. Our service times are on this page – and if it’s simpler to do
it by contacting the vicar, simply click on E-mail Roy .
Greetings, welcome and love
| What if |
I need
help, feel sick, lonely, depressed - life just gone wrong in some way?
Nobody has all the answers – but if you suspect we can help, ask us. We really will try.
Email the vicar in the first place, but if you don’t think he’s the right person for you, you could try the following people, who will be pleased to try to guide you to somebody else who may be of better help:
Write to or telephone the Revd Dominic Whitnall at the Community of the Resurrection, Stocksbank Road, Mirfield Tel: [01924] 483335
Telephone the church's licensed Reader Ian Grange. ( See Who's Who)
Contact the church's lay pastoral ministers (See Who's Who)
Or see
who's who for details of the churchwardens, who may think of other suitable support for
you
I have an elderly
relative in the parish?
Perhaps an elderly relative has church connections but cannot get to church any
more. If someone in your family is in that position, we hope we can help.
Perhaps the vicar or someone else can pay a visit. If your relative is used to
receiving communion, we could perhaps take communion to him/her. To discuss the
situation, email the vicar and he will put
Mrs M Jones, who looks after our
ministry to elderly people, in touch with your relative.
